I stumbled across a cemented in water trough that was completely full approximately 5'wide and 4' deep that was full of mosquitos. On closer observation, I noticed a few belly up California Newts. Did they possibly drown? I placed a lot of logs for the newts to crawl in and out, and the next week went back to observe and found numerous mating balls. The laying female has only 1 eye, so she is easy to identify. less ↑
